Geometry and young learners
I´m sure that you have found some difficulties in working geometrical names with young learners, because there are too many names to memorize all of them. Sometimes they learn the different names by a passive memorization, which would be forgotten in a few years due to the fact that it isn´t a meaningful learning.
What we can do for avoiding this issue? Well, there are different activities that are enjoyable for our learners having a powerful and meaningful dynamic. Here you have a really appealing example:
-2D SHAPES PUPPETS-
It is really enjoyable game, where students have to create different puppets with geometrical shapes. These are made by cardboards of different colours, and drawing with different funny faces. Then they can do a litte piece of theatre, where they have to present what they are represented.
In this way students can learn different names and how to represent them, associating name with shape unconsciously.
I hope that you have enjoyed this post! See you soon!
